What’s Brewing – online

For those who haven’t seen it, Jackie Parker (CAMRA Communications Director) has recently issued this statement:

We have been working on a new What’s Brewing news website, and I am pleased to announce its launch.
The website can be found at
wb.camra.org.uk and is currently open to both members and non-members. It is also our intention, as we add to the site, to restrict the majority of content to members only.
The website will enhance the current digital alternative to What’s Brewing, which includes the PDF and “Flippable” version of the newspaper. With the launch of this improved news website, we will have the space and ability to feature more news from across the Campaign and the country.
We are confident this improved web service will encourage more members to opt out of receiving the printed copy of What’s Brewing, which in turn will save the Campaign money, which can be diverted to our Campaigning and other activities. If you would like to opt out of receiving a printed copy of What’s Brewing please contact Lauren Archell

Assets of Community Value (ACV)

Below is a list of successful nominations to Shropshire Council for pubs to be registered as Assets of Community Value with a potential for a Community Right to Bid.

An  ACV is land or property of importance to a local community which is subject to additional protection from development. Voluntary and community organisations can nominate an asset to be included on their local authority’s register of asset of community value.

The owner of an asset of community value must inform the local authority if they wish to sell the asset. If a group wants to buy the asset, they can trigger a moratorium for six months, to give them a chance to raise the money to purchase the asset. The owner does not have to sell to a community group. The asset of community value listing only improves the chances of community groups being able to purchase by providing more time to raise funds. It does not require the owner to sell at a discount.
