2018 Programme Shrewsbury Beer Festival V3

Shrewsbury CAMRA Beer Festival is back again for 2018, with even more real ales (we’re aiming for 111 beers, many new, unique or from new breweries), ciders, perries, apple and pear juices and country wines, and an expansion of last year’s popular Gin Bar (more spirits are being produced in the local area).

All the beers will be on gravity or handpull (up to 65 on handpull) and all will be available from as soon as they are ready until they run out.  Although we would have been happy to have live beer in keykeg (sometimes called keycask), it turns out that the cost of hiring the necessary additional equipment would have been prohibitive.  Once again, all beers, ciders and perries will be cooled in the cask or container to cellar temperature using professional cooling equipment.

Last year’s Indian snacks, specialist chocolate and Pipers Crisps stalls will return, and Shrewsbury Sixth Form College’s catering team will be offering hot meals and sandwiches in the college restaurant.  You are welcome to bring in your own food as an alternative.

There’s a bus (No1) which goes from the bus station past the venue door and runs until 9pm (ish). There’s parking nearby if you have a designated driver.  Soft drinks (except apple and pear juices) are free to designated drivers.  Shrewsbury has a number of taxi firms and fares are reasonable, with pick-up just around the corner from the venue.  We don’t do advance tickets as we haven’t had any problems with the capacity of the venue – if you are coming, feel sure you will get in (there might be a small queue to get your wristband and glass at busy periods).

As a result of our focus on new beers and breweries, our beer list isn’t ready until shortly before the festival.  It will be posted here, in the Scoopgen group and on our social media accounts as soon as it’s ready.  In the meantime, updates, ideas and gossip will be posted on our Festival Facebook Page. Like all CAMRA festivals, we depend on volunteers for staffing. If you are a CAMRA member who would like to volunteer to work at the festival for a few hours, please email press@saws.camra.org.uk

Our facebook Festival Page is here.                        Our  Festival Twitter feed is here.

In the meantime, for news of other beer festivals in Shrewsbury, Shropshire & surrounding counties during the rest of the year,
