David in one of his favourite places (the old Stonehouse Brewery in 2012), sampling his beloved Station Bitter. A good friend, one of the greatest Welsh ambassadors I have ever met, cheers David.                                Steve Wood

This one shows his other interest – steam trains – goes with the territory of being an older member of CAMRA!  It was the time of the CAMRA members weekend in Eastbourne in April 2009.  The “gang” are riding on the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch light railway.  David’s criteria for going to AGM’s was that they had to be by the sea so I think his last one was the following year when we went to the Isle of Man (or possibly Torquay in 2012).                                                                                                              Tim Hockenhull

David will always remind me of the goodness in people. He was a gentle man with wit and humanity in bundles. Blessings to all the family.                      Ruth Andrew

Branch Meeting at the Admiral Benbow, Shrewsbury

PTG trip at the Griffin, Oswestry

Despite what he looks like in some of these photos, David was unfailingly friendly, particularly to new members (including me when I moved to Shrewsbury) and worked constantly to support pubs and improve the Branch. It’s a shame I don’t appear to have one of David with the folks from the Cross Keys at Selattyn, as that was another of the pubs he constantly advocated, and supported the new landlord taking over from Phil. Mainly, these photos just show how embedded David was in the activities of the Branch, and how sadly missed he will be.                                                                                                  Norrie Porter

We were lucky enough to meet Dave on the day we opened the Bailey Head in Oswestry, March 8 2016. Dave was unfailingly supportive, helpful and funny. He was a regular visitor when his health permitted, and obviously so long as his modest public service pension could support his Lapsang Souchong and pork pie/cheeseboard habit.

Many hours were spent in good natured time here and Dave told us tales from his career in Local Government Audit and assorted other stories.

He was always a charming and interesting visitor to our pub. We will miss him, and send our condolences and love to Sue and family.                                                                                                      Grace Goodlad & all at the Bailey Head, Oswestry
