The Shrewsbury & West Shropshire Branch of CAMRA

The Campaign For Real Ale (CAMRA) campaigns for real ale, real pubs and consumer rights. We are an independent, voluntary organisation with over 180,000 members.

Shrewsbury is the County Town of Shropshire and is one of the most historic towns in England. It boasts a host of medieval buildings, castles and museums as well as some excellent Old Inns and Pubs.

Our branch covers the Western half of Shropshire, which includes the towns of Shrewsbury, Oswestry, Whitchurch and Ludlow. Take a look at our Branch Map.

CAMRA’s Manifesto for the 2017 General Election

On the 8th June, the UK will go to the polls for the General Election. We need your help to ensure Candidates in Shropshire know how important beer and pubs are to you as a potential voter. CAMRA is asking General Election Candidates to pledge their support for Britain’s pub goers and beer drinkers by committing to do the following if elected:

1. Beer – Celebrate and promote Britain’s 1,540 breweries

2. Pubs – Support action to help pubs thrive

3. Consumers – Represent the interests of pub goers, beer, cider and perry drinkers

You can read CAMRA’s full manifesto here

By working together in 2015, we persuaded 1,160 Candidates to pledge support for beer and pubs. As a result of this, we had 211 MPs who had promised to speak up in Parliament on our behalf. We need to make sure that beer and pubs stay at the top of the political agenda in the next five years. Please ask your local candidates to pledge for pubs by visiting

  1. No Stonehouse sold at any of the supermarkets in Oswestry, other than Stan’s Superstore in St. Martin’s. Shocking! Thank goodness that it is sold at Boozed Up! and Twelve Green Bottles though!

  2. I just tried to buy some Shropshire Ale in Sainsbury’s ( “it’s our values that make us different”.) only one bottle amongst the hundreds on sale…Shropshire Lad. I complained perhaps we all should?
